4 Ways To Get Your Kids Excited And Involved In Sunday Service

If your kids are anything like ours, they occasionally (or often) drag their feet about going to Sunday service. They say they’d rather stay home and play or watch TV sometimes, instead of gathering with our community to learn about God.

Keeping a child’s interest and excitement up about Sunday service and faith formation is all about consistency and intentionality. You as parents set the tone for your family’s culture, so try these 4 tips to build such a culture.

4 Ways To Get Your Kids Excited And Involved In Sunday Service

1. Set The Example

Your job as a parent is to set the example for your kids, and that includes being genuinely excited about Sunday service and sharing that with your children. They will follow your lead, and in this way you can encourage them to keep an open heart to what they learn and be excited about it.

2. Ask For Take-Home Resources

Many churches have additional curriculum, like take-home sheets. Ask for these; you may even be the first person to ever bring it up, and can help design the curriculum to help other families. It may be tempting to put the sheet or other resource on the counter and forget about it, but really utilize it. It will help your child realize learning about God is a life-long and everyday pursuit, not just for Sundays.

Also, try to relate the main topic of Sunday’s service to your child’s life. When kids can understand how a lesson can relate to their life, they are more likely to remember it. If the lesson was about Jesus treating the poor or sinners with kindness, ask if they have acted or seen others act in a similar way, and how it made the people feel.

3. Cultivate Relationships In The Church Community

Sometimes, you may not go to Sunday service in an area where you live, work or go to school, so your kids may not know anyone. Take the initiative and introduce yourself to other families, plan play dates, sit near each other during the service. It’s beneficial for both the you, the kids and the community as a whole when families connect.

4. Involve Yourself In Children’s Ministry When Possible

This isn’t possible for everyone, but if you can, volunteer to be part of the kids ministry team if one exists. If your kids see you volunteering your time to help support a ministry which is all about them, they will see more value in it.

We hope this helps, and listen to Spirit 92.9 everyday for the encouragement you need!

1. Family-Friendly – “Family”

Your Christian radio station is dedicated to providing family-friendly events to further our mission and help families become closer.

The Minnesota State Fair is not only a time to enjoy new foods, rides and music, but also a time to enjoy low-tech family time together in the livestock barns and agricultural exhibits, at the daily parade, at the art shows, and at the Alphabet Forest where kids can interact with a new author each day as well as take part in many age-appropriate activities. There is something for the whole family to enjoy!

2. A Trip With Like-Minded Christian Radio Listeners – “Faith”

This bus trip to the state fair is offered exclusively by Spirit 92.9 to its listeners. So when you take this trip, you know you will be surrounded by like-minded, family-oriented Christian radio listeners on the ride down and back up, which means your children will be free to enjoy their travel without worry of being exposed to music, language or themes not in keeping with our values.

3. Entertaining – “Fun”

Of course, there are tons of fun things to do at the fair! From the great music at the Grandstand, to the bouncing and climbing and sling shotting at Adventure Park, your family will always have something new to do and explore no matter how many times you attend the fair!

Get your tickets for the Family Event Bus from your Christian radio station today on our event page, and don’t forget to separately get your tickets for admission to the fair! We’ll see you at the fair!

Why Join Music Advisory Teams At Christian Radio Stations?

You’ve probably heard of the Billboard charts, as well as other ways of rating music. Many commercial radio stations make their playlists based off of requests from across the nation, resulting in a homogenous sound across the country on these ‘Top 40’ radio stations. But for Christian radio stations, there is another way.

At Christian radio stations, we don’t base all of our music off of what’s popular across the country. While we do look to Billboard’s Hot Christian Songs chart, we also want to know what is popular locally. Our mission is to serve our local community and to spread the faith here, where we live and work. That’s why many Christian radio stations ask for volunteers to join Music Advisory Teams, to help decide what kind of music should be played at the local level.

A music advisory team is a way of augmenting the national chart information we receive, to make sure we are playing music which provides hope and encouragement our specific community needs. Not all Christian radio stations are the same, and not all communities around Christian radio stations are the same either!

Spread The Faith Which Helps You

At Spirit 92.9, we take spreading the faith very seriously. Our ministry is designed to deliver encouragement and hope, and we know the best way to do this is by learning what works for our listeners.

If a particular Christian song or artist really speaks to you or has helped you through troubled times, it may be that they could help others who are in need as well.

Learn More About The Station, Music And Faith You Love

We hope that by joining a Christian radio station’s Music Advisory Team, you’ll become more invested in the station you listen to. You will get to know the DJs and staff better and listen on a more regular basis. You may even start to do research on lesser-known Christian artists to find additional music or musical styles to recommend! And you will hopefully grow more and learn more about the faith you embrace.

How To Help At Family-Friendly Spirit 92.9

Spirit 92.9, among many Christian radio stations, has it’s own Music Advisory Team. There is no obligation to join, and it is completely free. Every 2 weeks, a brief survey will be emailed to you, and by spending just a few minutes completing it, you will make a big impact on Christian radio stations music, including Spirit 92.9. You can register to be part of the team through our online form, found on this page.

3 Reasons To Support Christian Radio Stations Through Advertising

As a business owner or manager, you want the most bang for your advertising buck. And while many people look at radio advertising as a poor option because the ads interrupt the listener’s experience, advertising on Christian radio stations is quite a different story!

As you’ll soon see, advertisers find Christian radio stations a great investment. While the listener base may be small, they are fiercely invested in their Christian radio stations, like Spirit 92.9.

3 Reasons To Support Christian Radio Stations Through Advertising

1. Small But Loyal

71.8% of Christian radio stations’ listeners prefer to purchase from businesses advertising on Christian radio stations.

Because Christian radio stations are generally non-profits, listeners know that the companies who advertise with us are supporting their station. That’s why we call our advertisers “business supporters.”

Listeners are also supporters themselves, continually sending in their own donations to support the station. They are heavily invested in the continuing strength of their Christian radio stations, so when they hear your advertisement on their station, you become “part of the family.”

2. Upbeat Listeners Are Upbeat Customers

When you listen to Spirit 92.9 in particular, you will hear us say the phrase “positive and encouraging.” This is our motto, and it perfectly reflects the music we play and the voices listeners hear on the radio.

People of all ages and situations in life find encouragement through our message of hope, and carry that hope out through the community and into every business they visit. Wouldn’t you prefer to deal with upbeat customers who are always ready with a smile and a kind word? Don’t you think others, possibly other customers, would be drawn to a business which attracts these kinds of people?

3. Easy To Build Credibility And Trust

The biggest challenge for any business is building credibility and trust. Often, businesses attempt to do so by associating themselves with another brand. What better brand to associate with than one with fiercely loyal, upbeat listeners?

Advertising with Christian radio stations is a great opportunity for your business, so we hope you will contact us today and give it a try!
