The soundtrack to your holiday season, all Christmas music begins Thanksgiving day at 7pm, and runs through Christmas Day!
Why all Christmas music?
Lots of prayer and consideration goes into the decision to play Christmas music this time of year. The most important reason we make the switch is because of the huge opportunity for outreach. We like to think of it as an on air open house, providing a unique opportunity to introduce more people to the radio station, the DJs, the true reason for the season, and what they can experience if they keep listening after Christmas. We want EVERYONE in central Minnesota to hear the good news of great joy!
Even though the music is different from what we normally play, the message is still the same. Christmas carols tell a story about a Savior! Many unique songs are also mixed in from your favorite Christian artists that invite us to experience that Savior this Christmas. Christmas music is something we all know, recognize, and can enjoy together. At Christmastime, we see a huge growth in listening! And we have been so encouraged by the countless stories of people who tuned in for Christmas music, and continued listening into the new year.
Why not play a mix of regular Christian music and Christmas songs?
With the goal being outreach, research shows that a playlist of exclusively Christmas music is what new listeners are most likely to tune in and stay tuned in for. This provides a better opportunity for them to listen longer, get to know more about the radio station, and to invite them to keep listening after Christmas.
Why play classic Christmas songs that don’t have a Christian message?
Again, with the goal being primarily outreach, a mix of traditional and original songs is what we’ve found is best received by most people. The nostalgia of familiar Christmas songs along with ones specifically celebrating the birth of Christ creates a welcoming sound for current and new listeners.

So what happens AFTER Christmas Day?
In the days following Christmas day, we know the celebration has really just begun! So while our regular playlist returns, we also mix in Christmas songs that celebrate the birth of our Savior through the end of December.
